WhatsApp Prepares Dark Mode on Android and iOS
WhatsApp has also started on Android with the preparation for the implementation of a dark mode. The company already began preparations on iOS in October.
The dark mode replaces light colours on the screen with dark colours, making the use of an app, for example in low light, more pleasant.
The dark mode uses grey colours in the current version on Android and iOS. Whether the final night mode also uses these colours is not yet clear.
The use of a night mode with completely black images can save on oled screens, because the pixels do not show a black color, but are ‘off’.
It is not yet obvious when WhatsApp will make the dark mode available to users. According to WABetaInfo, quite a bit of time is still being devoted to its development. Presumably the social medium, which is owned by Facebook, first makes night mode available to a select group of testers.
