The Chinese doctor who warned for coronavirus is now in intensive care
He wanted to warn of a SARS-like virus, but Li Wenliang, the doctor at a hospital in Wuhan, was not taken seriously by the Chinese authorities. In fact, according to the police, he spread rumours and was punished. Wenliang is now sick himself, affected by the coronavirus.
It starts with an app to former fellow students: seven patients became ill and placed in quarantine after visiting a market. It is intended as a warning.
34-year-old ophthalmologist Li Wenliang sends the message on December 30, 2019, even before the Chinese government takes the coronavirus a little bit seriously. “I wanted to tell my former classmates to be careful,” he says in a conversation with CNN.
