Republicans elect Trump candidate for leadership.
The Trump critic Liz Cheney had ousted the US Republicans, now Elise Stefanik is number three in the party. The ex-president congratulates on the victory.
As the successor to Liz Cheney, the deposed prominent critic of Donald Trump, the US Republicans have elected Elise Stefanik to the parliamentary group leadership – and thus a proven supporter of the ex-president. According to media reports, the 36-year-old becomes the new number three Conservative in the House of Representatives; in the non-public vote, she prevailed against MP Chip Roy with 134 to 46 votes.
After the election, Stefanik promised, “to fight for the people of America”. She also expressly thanked Trump and described him as a “crucial part of our Republican team”. The ex-president, who now lives in Florida, is the party leader in the eyes of voters. America suffers from “extreme left politics” by the government of Democratic successor Joe Biden.
Cheney was kicked out of the House of Representatives leadership on Wednesday. The 54-year-old daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney had repeatedly denounced the “big lie” that Trump only lost the November 3 presidential election through serious election fraud against Biden. After storming the Capitol on January 6, the Wyoming MP was only ten Republicans to vote for impeachment against Trump.
