Nintendo CEO: “No new Switch this year.”
Gamers who were waiting for a new Nintendo Switch can stop that, at least this year.
Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa spoke to the press after announcing the company’s positive quarterly figures. “This needs to be noticed that we have no designs to discharge another Nintendo Switch model in 2020,” said Furukawa.
Last time The Nintendo Switch was released in March 2017. Last year, the company released the smaller, cheaper Nintendo Switch Lite, and the existing Switch was given a new chip that increased battery life.
Still rumours about a kind of ‘Switch Pro’ persist. That model would be more powerful and have a screen with higher resolution. Nintendo does not explicitly exclude such a model, but at least this year fans don’t have to wait for it.
In addition, chipmaker Nvidia has no successor in development for the chip on which the Nintendo Switch runs, notes The Verge. There are no plans for such a disk for the time being.
