Next iPhone gets cheaper OLED screen from Samsung
The new iPhone that will be issued in 2019 would get a thinner and cheaper OLED screen from Samsung.
The new iPhone screens must use Y-Octa technology, with the touch panel and monitor in one component.
The screen is thinner because the parts are integrated into one screen. This can make the new iPhone thinner than the current iPhone XS and XR.
Besides, the Y-Octa screen would be affordable than the current touch panel and display that are used. Or this will translate into a lower price for the new iPhone, is not yet clear.
Samsung also supplies the screens that are used in current iPhones. Apple would in the long term want to become less dependent on the competitor, by also taking screens from other manufacturers.
The new iPhone would also include a modem designed by Apple itself, sources from The Information. Apple already developed the processor chips that are used in the iPhone.
