Navalny network regional offices classified as extremist
Russia continues to take action against the offices of the network that is critical of the government. You are now on a list of “terrorist and extremist” organizations.
The offices of the organization of the Russian government critic Alexei Navalny are no longer allowed to operate. The regional offices have been classified as “extremist” by the state. They are now on the list of terrorist organizations of the financial regulator Rosfinmonitoring, which recently announced its list.
The Russian public prosecutor’s office had applied for Navalny’s anti-corruption foundation FBK and the government critic’s network of regional organizations to be classified as “extremist”. As a result, the work of the organizations would be banned altogether. Members and supporters would face lengthy prison terms.
The regional offices had already disbanded on Thursday to forestall a complete ban due to the feared classification as “extremist”. Some of the 37 offices want to continue their activities as independent political organizations. This is what the anti-corruption foundation Nawalnys had announced.
