Another black man dies in a US police operation

Investigators warn of hasty conclusions after police officers killed another black man. The Atlanta police chief has resigned.
In the American city of Atlanta, the police chief resigned after a black man who died in a police operation. Keisha Lance Bottoms as the Mayor of Atlanta said in a televised speech, the chief of police decided to step down on her own initiative to clear the way for reform.
“I don’t think this was a justified use of lethal violence,” said Bottoms. It has become evident that the Atlanta police have not satisfied their hopes and that this effects “the interaction with our officers and the communities they are responsible for protecting,” Bottoms said. She demanded the immediate release of the police officer who fired the fatal shot.
A lot of angry demonstrators had gathered in the streets near the fast-food restaurant where the black man had died in the past few hours. However, the responsible criminal police office GBI in the state of Georgia, which initiated the investigation following a request from the police in Atlanta, warned against premature conclusions. “I don’t want anyone to rush to any form of the judgment under any circumstances, which is very easy on both sides in these cases,” said GBI chief Vic Reynolds.
